6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Please join the Department of Communication Studies for a discussion and signing of the book, Narrating the Closet: An Autoethnography of Same Sex Attraction (2011), with Dr. Tony Adams, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Theatre at Northeastern Illinois University.
Adams’ work seeks to redefine the closet as a relational construct between all people and all sexualities. The closet is explored at each stage—entering it, inhabiting it, and coming out of it—and strategies are offered for reframing difficult closet experiences. Adams makes use of interviews, personal narratives, and autoethnography to analyze lived, relational experiences of sexuality.
The talk will take place from 6-7 p.m. (with question and answers to follow) in Fretwell 100. Please encourage students and community members to attend.
This is a Chancellor's Diversity Challenge Fund event with additional support from the Center for Professional and Applied Ethics.
